Blackfish season kicked off this week in New York, and Freeport Charter Boats has been busy making waves! We hosted successful private charters on both the Sorry Charlie and the Freeport Gem, with anglers reeling in a good mix of blackfish and cod.
Early Season Success on the Sorry Charlie:
Our 6-person Sorry Charlie charter set sail early in the week, hitting the water on Monday and Tuesday. They encountered some great action, catching several keeper blackfish, primarily using jigs. The crew then switched gears and targeted cod, successfully landing a few per person.
Freeport Gem Sails Offshore for Big Catches:
Later in the week, the Freeport Gem ventured further offshore, reaping the rewards of a bountiful catch. The vessel hosted a 50-person corporate outing, and these enthusiastic anglers enjoyed a successful day of reeling in both cod and blackfish. To top it off, the group returned to the bay and capped off their adventure with a delicious hot buffet lunch.
